| Featured City: Buenos Aires | At the beginning of the 16th century, Some Spanish explored far from their country by their flotillas to put into port of the La Plata River. What they had seen made them astonished£¿ Soaking up the sun with the bright sunlight, viewing a long distance of the green pasture, breathing freely of the delightfully fresh air, a seaman hallooed feverishly "Buenos Aires!"("Buenos Aires" means the fresh air in Spanish). Then the name of the city came after this exclamation.
Buenos Aires had been the center of Spanish settlements for 300 years long before it became the capital of Argentina in 1816. It is the biggest city in the Southern Hemisphere and deserves the calling of "The Paris in South America". This is a city full of Europeanization, not only the residents in the city are almost the descendants of the European emigrants, but their life style, customs and habits, the cultural interesting aspects, have rare differences with Europeans everywhere.
The most prosperous street in Buenos Aires is Florida Avenue which is an on foot business street. It is an incommodious street which is no more than 2km. But almost all the famous companies, native or overseas-such as London, Paris, have subsidiary company here. Resplendent and multicolored goods feast our eyes, you can find the dance hall, night club, restaurant everywhere. All of them are bustling all day long. As the jollification is so ordinary here, it is alleged as the "South America Broadway". You will easily find a 70m high white monument in a street which is a square-built street to the west of the Florida Avenue. It is the landmark of the city which had been set up in 1936.
The "child's republic" locates in outskirts of Buenos Aires. The building and streets are delicately styled with the manner of Europe and Southeast Asia. Inside construction, there are displays of some handicraft products, such as some paintings of nations and sculptures...etc.
While visiting Buenos Aires, what you can't miss is the Recoleta. You would better wander around all the cafes and restaurants there, enjoying all kinds of unique style of decoration and disposal. Looking around the district of the city center first, then, choosing one open-air seat and ordering one cup of Cappuccino one bread and cream cheese, enjoying slowly in the bright sunshine with the lawn around.
After finishing the breakfast, enter the big church of flank, then turn again into the front door at the side of church. Then you will have the view of gates with varied kinds of stone carving, which are all wonderful articles excelling nature. While you get closer to the carving palisades iron gate, hope inside, you will see it abound in caskets unexpectedly! This is the Argentine national public cemetery. Only the ones who are famous, rich, or having the power of authority have the right to be buried here. It has already been the absolutely necessary destination for visitors.
It means having not been to Argentina if you have never drunk chimarrao or never eaten churrasco. There are lots of famous grillrooms along the riverside of La Plata River. These restaurants are similar to the stores, where have a big glass case. Inside of the show window displays its oven with carbon burning vigorously in the middle. All the barbeque-stake, beef or pork-are baked around the oven.
